Lets get the party started (again)! Boulder’s own Startup Drinks is back! A simple concept: startup culture in cities around the world gathers around a bar to have a pint and discuss what they are working on, what they need help with and what they can do for each other. Be on the look out for events around Boulder this year. Follow the Startup Drinks blog, Boulder.me, Startup Drinks on Twitter and/or the Boulder tech calendar for continued information and please contact me if you have ideas, want to host events, or spread the word about other activities.
Liquid courage will be flowing at the first event of 2009, a partner event with the life sciences startup club BioBeers at The Foundry on February 24th. As Adam Rubenstein of BioBeers so aptly states, “…this is our time to shine, to be creative and to rejuvenate the economy with a shot of molecular innovation! Smart people, frothy beer and an exchange of ideas is as good a place to start as any…” Oh yeah, and there will be drink specials.
The 411:
What: Duh.
Why: Do you need a reason?
When: February 24th at 6:30pm (feel free to arrive later – see below)
Where: The Foundry (no, not Brad Feld’s office, sorry to get all your hopes up) at 1109 Walnut St. in Boulder.
Who: You and a bunch of friends from the Boulder tech/entrepreneur scene and a crew of sure to be crazy BioBeers characters.
Of note: Jason Mendelson, Managing Director of the Foundry Group, is speaking at a very interesting Silicon Flatiron’s Crash Course prefacing our Startup Drinks + BioBeers Bonanza titled “Raising Venture Capital”. The seminar is being given at the Wolf Law building, rm 204 on the CU Boulder campus from 5:15 – 6:45, more info (HERE). For those in attendance, we can gather afterwards and head to The Foundry. I will be wearing a Bianchi cycling cap, find me.
Sincerely,
Your Party Liaison – Natty

As mentioned at the last New Tech Meetup, iVolunteer’s first working session will be held on Tuesday, January 27. After the closing of RedFish Brewery, the folks at the Van Heyst Group graciously stepped up and offered their space to our efforts. Thank you!
iVolunteer has no employees and is entirely a not-for-profit endeavor. We see the project as a way to support community organizations across the country and also as a showcase for Boulder’s incredible depth of startup talent. We’ll have our laptops out hacking on code for the iPhone app and website, working on marketing plans, writing blog posts, and doing whatever needs doing to make iVolunteer successful.
Equal parts social and working, this is a great opportunity to meet interesting people in the Boulder community and work on something big. Bring your friends and anyone else who might be good to have along for the ride.

Thanks!

PodCamp Boulder will be held January 23-24 at the skinnycorp / Threadless office (1468 Pearl St, Boulder)
Starting at 7:00 Friday night we’ll get together over drinks and in front of a whiteboard to hash out the Saturday schedule. Knowledge to drop? Things you’ve been curious about? So long as it’s in the realm of new media (Audio, Video, Photos, Blogs/Microblogs) , it’s fair game. We’ll wrap at 9:00 having decided both what sessions / panels / discussions will be happening, and when we want to be back in the morning. (9:00-5:00 or 10:00-5:00 Saturday) All are welcome. Invite a friend. Bring your gear, bring a good attitude.
Snack / Drink sponsors still welcome, contact jeremy at jeremytanner.com or call at 248-990-3862
Edit: Slice of Lime sponsored Beer on Friday and Bagels, Juice and Vitamin Waters for Saturday
Josh of Flying Dog came down with a keg of the K-9 Cruiser!
Big thanks to both!
If you’re Downtown Boulder tonight The Bunker (TechStars space) is holding a Hacknight from 5:00-8:00, bring a project of just come kick it with the other code monkeys. Gnip will be providing pizza!
